Am I covered if my bags are lost by the airline?

This information is for residents of Helpdesk Global only.

What’s covered?

Yes, your policy can help if your checked baggage is permanently lost by the common carrier. You can make a claim for your lost baggage and personal effects.

The maximum amount you can claim for all your personal effects and the per item limits depends on which plan you buy eg Standard or Explorer.

What you need to do to make a claim

  • notify the liable common carrier of the loss and obtain written confirmation that your baggage has been lost
  • provide evidence of proof of ownership, age and value of your personal effects to support your claim.

The coverage for permanently lost baggage by an airline under this policy is subject to any coverage provided by the common carrier.

Travel insurance is not designed to cover everything, so take the time to read the full description of cover in the Travel Protection Plan for full details on what’s not covered.
