Am I covered by travel insurance if I'm scuba diving?

Yes! Your level of coverage depends on your plan.
Standard plans include:
Scuba diving up to 165 feet (50 meters)
Introductory courses and discover dives with qualified instructors.
Explorer plans include:
Scuba diving as a paid or volunteer instructor or guide
Cave or cavern diving up to 165 feet (50 meters)
Commercial dives up to 165 feet (50 meters)
To be covered under our plans, your dives must be organized by a reputable licensed company that employs experienced staff. You also must be accompanied by a dive master at all times.
How it works
If you get sick or injured when diving, cover includes:
evacuation if it’s urgent and medically necessary (by the most appropriate means including helicopter when necessary and available).
emergency medical expenses, for treatment at the hospital or by a physician at the local medical center; and/or
repatriation to the United States if you’re seriously ill or injured and unable to continue your trip.
If you need emergency transport or evacuation or are admitted to hospital, you (or your travel companion) must contact the 24 hour Emergency Assistance team as soon as possible to get your care pre-authorized. The Emergency Assistance team can also help direct you to medical facilities and arrange medical payments.
What’s not covered
Travel insurance is not designed to cover everything, so take the time to read your policy in full so there are no surprises if you need to make a claim.
A few things that aren’t covered include:
Any medical transportation or associated additional expenses which are not a recommendation by the treating physician.
Any costs once you get back home.
Any incidents related to alcohol or drug use
Anything else that's listed in the exclusions on the policy.
